Holding presidency of CoE Committee of Ministers will increase Moldova’s visibility, envoy

Holding for the second time the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, from November 2025 to May 2026, will give Moldova the opportunity to increase its visibility on the European and international level, Daniela Cujbă, Moldova’s permanent representative to the Council of Europe, told Radio Moldova.

The ambassador said that taking over the presidency will also help to increase the profile of the Council of Europe among Moldovan public.

Asked about the procedure for establishing the priorities of the presidency, Daniela Cujbă said that it is a prerogative of the country that holds the presidency and is usually based on the country’s priorities. At the same time, these priorities also take into account the current situation at the time when the country holds the presidency and the developments of the processes that have been launched or are to be launched during the presidency. These priorities become part of the presidency’s program and will be communicated in the first days of taking over the presidency, added Cujbă.

Twenty-nine years ago on July 13 Moldova became a Council of Europe member. Moldova held the presidency of the CoE Committee of Ministers in May-November 2003, becoming the first country in the CIS area to receive the baton.
