Holders of Transnistrian driver’s licenses could apply for national licenses

The people living on the left bank of the Nistru who hold an identity card or a passport issued by the constitutional authorities of Moldova, but have driver’s licenses issued by the Transnistrian authorities could ask for a Moldovan license without taking any exam, says a Government decision approved on March 11.

Minister of the Interior Pavel Voicu said the decision is aimed at ensuring the constitutional right of the Moldova citizens living on the left side of the Nistru and in the municipality of Bender to free movement in international traffic, IPN reports.

Under the decision, the drivers with Transnistrian driver’s licenses who hold Moldovan identification papers will be able to apply for a national driver’s license without sitting exams.
