The panorama of the development of the Chisinau National Opera House since its foundation was included in a monograph titled “Bessarabian Lyrics - way to current stage”. The book contains historical data, stories and illustrations from plays. It is the first monograph of the kind in Moldova and was published in a limited number of copies, being a collection volume, IPN reports.

Monograph author Valeria Seican, who heads the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”, said that her grandfather and father were those who motivated her to work on this volume, they being among the first personalities who encouraged the development of the National Opera. “It was very important for me, as musicologist, to establish what is there in the soul of every master with whom I communicated when I worked on this monograph,” she stated, adding that she will compile other monographs about the National Opera.

Attending the launch, Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica said that this monograph is a visiting card of Moldova. “This monograph relates about the great artists of the National Opera. It is special as form and as design. It is not simply a monogram, an analysis or a history. It is an album, an illustration of the National Opera,” he stated.

Germany’s Ambassador in Chisinau Matthias Meyer, who is a close friend of the author, said that from the viewpoint of the opera, Moldova and Germany have a common history. He mentioned Maria Cibotari, who worked for many years in Germany. “The artist enjoyed considerable success in Germany. In fact, the Embassy of Germany is located on the street that bears her name. Matthias Meyer also said that he will be glad to see the embassy cooperating with the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”.

The monograph “Bessarabian Lyrics - way to current stage” will be translated into several languages.
