After not even a year of the launch of its operations, the airline HiSky announced the purchase of two more Airbus planes that expanded its fleet to five aircraft. Together with the signing of the new leasing contracts, HiSky becomes one of the operators with the largest and youngest fleets in Moldova and the region, IPN reports, quoting a pores release of the company.
The planes were bought from Air Lease Corporation, which is a leading aircraft leasing company with investments totaling over US$22 million.
The two aircraft have an average age of only 4.5 years and, as the other aircraft of HiSky’s fleet, will meet the passengers with new seats. They were already painted in the company’s colors and in several days will join the main fleet.
“This year we exceeded our own expectations. In March we operated the first commercial flight and in December we have five aircraft already. And we should not forget that we had a pandemic year during which the airlines all over the world practically tried to resuscitate the aviation industry. After these nine months of operation, we are no longer a small company at the start of its path. We are a large, solid operator and already the preferred company of tens of thousands of passengers. This means perseverance, professional team and correctness towards passengers,” said Iulian Scorpan, HiSky director general.
According to the press release, HiSky in nine months carried about 150,000 passengers.
HiSky is certified as an air operator in the Republic of Moldova and Romania. From Chisinau, the company operates flights to Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Cluj, and Moscow.
