The pays of the people’s ombudsperson, people’s ombudsperson for children’s rights and their deputies will be higher as of January 1, 2017. This is provided in a bill to amend the law on salaries in the budget-funded sphere approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
Thus, the salaries of ombudspersons will rise from 9,180 lei to 11,880 lei, while of the deputies – from 8,640 to 11,340 lei (similar to the pay of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister).
Such a decision was taken given the role of the people’s ombudspersons, which is to promote the rights and freedoms of persons, and in virtue of their mission - to monitor the observance of the legislation on human rights by the authorities.
