Higher risk of fires
October sees the largest number of uncontrolled fires in Moldova following the clearing of fields of dry vegetation, Info-Prim Neo reports quoting the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service.
The people burn the vegetal waste without supervising the fire and do not take protection measures when it is windy or when the fire is started near the house, sheds or stored fodder. As a result, the fire spreads quickly to houses and annexes. The consequences can be very serious.
Recently, a group of children playing with the fire in Sadaclia village of Basarabeasca district set fire to a haystack, which burned completely. The fire also engulfed a shed. The firefighters managed to extinguish the fire before it spread to adjoining buildings. A similar fire happened in Donici village of Orhei district. Two sheds situated on the territory of the Fruit Growing Company “Ajustor 95” in Bac village of Chisinau municipality also caught fire.
In order to avoid uncontrolled fires in the immediate future, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the people to observe the anti-fire rules: the stubble fields, vegetal waste and other combustible materials must be burned in special places, at a distance of at least 10 meters of houses and annexes; the fires must be permanently supervised and the glow must be put out when the fire stops producing flames.
