A higher number of ballots will be distributed to ten polling stations established outside Moldova’s borders for the runoff presidential elections. These are located in France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada (two), the United States (two) and Portugal (three). A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission on November 4, IPN reports.
Between 1,500 and 2,000 ballots were sent to the mentioned polling places for the first round of elections. According to the Central Election Commission, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the number of ballots for the ten polling stations will be increased to 3,000.
As regards London, where the ballots at one of the two polling places established there weren’t enough for the people who came to vote in the first round and these were directed to the other station, CEC communicator Rodica Sarbu has told IPN that by up to 3,000 ballots will be sent to each of the stations.
A number of 3 142 427 ballots are to be printed for the runoff elections. Of these, 212 348 ballots will be sent abroad.
