A number of villages and towns in the northern districts of Moldova were affected by the heavy rain and strong winds of the evening of June 29. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the high winds caused havoc in five communities of Briceni district. Trees fell on three houses in Briceni town, IPN reports.
In Lipcani town, the roofs of two apartment buildings and two private homes were partially destroyed. In Bulboaca, Briceni, the local kindergarten was damaged. The rainstorm also caused damage in Balti municipality and in the districts of Dubasari, Rezina, Falesti and Ungheni, where trees were downed and rescuers were called in to unblock roads.
The local commissions for emergencies are gauging the extent of the done damage.
