High School students take their final exams

About 30,000 high-school students in Moldova took their first native language Baccalaureate exam on Thursday, June 7. For the first time, this year, the students don’t take the exams in the school they have been studying in. Another first time event of this year’s exams session would have been the decision of Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev to set up “security teams” in each examination centre formed of policemen and doctors that would have strictly supervised the progress of the exams. Later, this initiative was abandoned. At the “Gheorghe Asachi” Lyceum from Chisinau, there was just a single policeman during the exam. Maxim Golub, policeman at the State Guard Service, told Info-Prim Neo that he came to the lyceum to support his girlfriend and not for supervising. The students have three more exams to pass: on June 11 – foreign language, on June 14 – mathematics or geography (depending on the class profile), while on June 18 the candidates will take the last exam, at one’s pleasure. All the exams are in written form. Overall, in the country, there have been opened 131 examination centers, where about 30,000 students will be tested. In Chisinau there are 18 centers and over 6,000 candidates.
