High school newspapers experience shortage of funds
Representatives of 26 editorial staffs of school newspapers Thursday came together for a workshop to discuss the problems and needs of the young journalists. “The Chisinau school newspapers lack financing from the relevant bodies so that the young journalists work without payment due to their enthusiasm,” Daniel Voda, chairman of the mass media and public relations committee of the Local Council of Children and Youth, has told Info-Prim Neo.
Another problem highlighted by Daniel Voda is that the young journalists are not taught the rules of the job. “They are often guided only by the teachers of Romanian. The teachers give useful pieces of advices on writing articles. But the young reporters must be taught by experienced journalists,” he said.
”This seminar is a single event of the kind. Not much is done to train the young journalists, who do not know how to write articles and work out projects to obtain financing from different institution.”
The seminar was organized by the NGO Young Journalist’s Center of Moldova and the National Youth Council of Moldova with support from the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Education.
