President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso announced that they will pay visits to Moldova at the invitation of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government, Herman Van Rompuy will come to Chisinau on May 13, while José Manuel Barroso – on June 11. While in Chisinau, the two European officials will discuss Moldova’s European prospect.
The visits by the two officials follow the progress made by Moldova in doing reforms and in aligning itself with the EU, especially because the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union will be signed soon and the Moldovans will travel visa-free in the Schengen Area.
