About 15 localities in seven districts were partially disconnected form the power supply in the morning of June 23, according to the information of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies. The Inspectorate’s press officer Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that after the heavy rainfalls of the evening of June 22, rescuers pumped water out of 21 house yards, nine of which were in Chisinau, while the rest in ATU Gagauzia.
Rescuers also helped persons who remained blocked in units of transport. On Ialoveni St of Chisinau municipality, four persons, three of whom were children, got stuck in a vehicle. In Comrat municipality, employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies intervened to pump water out of three private house yards.
As a result of the rainstorm, water accumulated on the Chisinau streets Muncesti, Albisoara, Sculeni and Soseaua Balcani.
The thunderstorm caused no casualties. A number of 356 rescuers and firefighters are ready to intervene with 125 special vehicles.
In situations of risk, the population is urged to call 112.
Weather forecasters issued a yellow code warning for sudden change in the weather for June 22-23. The State Hydrometeorological Service said there will be rain with thunder and lightning, in parts heavy (20-25 l/m2), and with hail. The wind was forecast to intensify to 15-20 m/s. On June 23, daytime temperatures will drop to 15-20 degrees Celsius.
