Heavy rain causes floods, damages roads and crops
The torrential rain of the last few days caused damage in dozens of Moldovan settlements. Cells and houses have been flooded, hundreds of hectares of crop fields and of kilometers of road have been destroyed. The heads of the affected districts reported on the situation in a video conference chaired by Premier Vlad Filat on June 30 in the evening, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The rain affected 13 settlements in Briceni district, including Drepcauti, Lipcani and Criva. Six of them are situated in the Prut River meadow. The persons living in the area were evacuated.
The dams of several ponds in Edinet district burst. A number of houses in Fetesti and Cupcini were flooded. The hail destroyed crop fields in the villages Glinoaia and Lopatin. The district authorities sought help from the Government.
Vineyards, sunflower fields and orchards were damages in Hancesti district.
The authorities of Rezina district informed the local companies gathered 100,000 lei to repair the bypass going to Rezina, but more money is needed.
At the end of the video conference, the head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Mihai Harabagiu said the situation is difficult, but the affected persons will be helped within possibilities. Representatives of the Service work in all the districts.
