Heavy rain and wind leave many settlements in darkness
Saturday’s strong wind and heavy rain caused power outages in a number of settlements.
Dorina Cruc, press officer for the Department for Emergencies, has told Info-Prim Neo that Calarasi, Ungheni, Orhei and other districts located in the center of the country experienced blackouts on Saturday night and partly on Sunday. On Saturday evening, the electricity supply was restored in all the settlements.
According to the quoted source, four persons drowned on the weekend. A 33-year-old man got drowned in a pond in Mandac village of Drochia district on Saturday. His body was taken out by villagers.
A man aged 61 drowned in Saiti village of Causeni district later the same day.
A 21-year-old man got drowned while fishing in Zaprud pond in Ceadar-Lunga district. The corpse was found the second day and taken out by employees of the local Department for Emergencies.
The body of an unidentified man in his 50s was found in a pond in Lebedinca village of Edinet district.
Thirty-one persons have drowned in Moldova this month. Nine out of them were minors. A number of 99 persons, including 20 minors, have drowned since the start of the year.
