Meteorologists have issued an amber alert for hot weather covering all of Moldova. The warning comes into effect on Tuesday and will be valid until August 29.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, during this period on extended areas highs will reach +33 degrees Celsius. Rain is only forecast for Saturday, but the south will get none of it.

Meanwhile an amber alert for low water levels in water bodies remains in place until at least August 30. In the Nistru River, 40-50% of the monthly multi-year average values are recorded, except for some of its eastern tributaries. In the Prut River, in Costești-Brânza area, 30-40% of the monthly multi-year average values are recorded.

A similar orange alert is also maintained in parts of Moldova, with small rivers seeing only 10-30% of the monthly multi-year average values. Hydrologists ask economic operators and the general population to consume water sensibly.
