Heating season starts in Chisinau Nov. 7

The 2022-2023 heating season for all consumers in the municipality of Chisinau begins on November 7. An order to this effect was signed by deputy mayor Irina Gutnic on November 4, IPN reports.

Under the order, the district head’s offices, the General Public Amenities Division, the housing sector mangers of any form of ownership, business entities and other heat consumers will get the houses under their management ready to receive heat.

SA “Termoelectrica” and SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau” are to make sure the buildings of the municipal housing sector are connected to the centralized heating system in accordance with the signed contracts.

“I know the heat charges will affect the consumers but we need to switch on the heat supply. A lot of residents wrote to us, particularly young families with small children, and complained that it is cold in their homes. 26,000 families this year will receive subsidies of 40% of the heat bill from the Chisinau City Hall, as opposed to 21,000 families last year. The almost sevenfold increase in heat charges will also have an impact on the municipal budget and the costs will grow considerably,” said mayor Ion Ceban.
