Heating season might start in Chisinau from Monday
Chisinau apartments could start receiving heat supply through the centralized system from Monday, October 17, provided that temperatures remain low over the weekend. Deputy Mayor Vlad Cotet told Info-Prim Neo the order to start the heating season has already been prepared and will be submitted to the Mayor to be signed.
“I've prepared the order, it just needs to be signed. But it depends on the air temperatures. If they remain chilly in the next few days, it is likely the heating season will start in the municipality”, said Vlad Cotet.
Earlier Mihai Cernei, the director of the heat and hot water utility Termocom, said heat would be supplied only to those apartments which paid at least 90% of their their outstanding bills.
Traditionally the heating season starts when the average air temperatures don't exceed +8°C for three days in a row. The HydroMeteorology Service issued an advisory for potential frosty temperatures during October 13-18. However, it is expected that the weather will grow warmer, up to +19 degrees, by midweek.
