Heat supplier “Termocom” JSC promises to install free of charge water-meters in the blocks where they were not installed yet. Commercial director of the company, Mihai Arusoi, told the City Hall meeting on Monday, July 16, that the housing sector in Chisinau will be fully provided with water-meters until October 1. According to the Company, it has already organised the auction and signed a contract with a company which will supply 300 modern water-meters. Although the expenses for installing the water-meters were not included in the tariff for water, fact which forced the company to perform the installation and verification works on its own, Arusoi says that this year the company will find the necessary sources in this respect from other categories of expenses included in the tariff “in order to settle the disputes between the apartment blocks where the meters were installed and those where they are lacking”. From the beginning of 2007, the company verified 850 water-meters installed by the dwellers and decided to replace free of charge 200 of them by better ones. At the same time, it is planned to replace other 550 meters by the end of the year. Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said that regardless of whether the expenses related to the water-meters are included or not in the tariff, the legal obligation in this case rests with the supplier, which should identify the necessary resources from other incomes of the company.
