Health workers who do not get vaccinated will not receive one-off allowance

The health workers who didn’t get a vaccine against COVID-19 will be unable to benefit from the one-off allowance of 16,000 lei from the state if they become infected with the novel coronavirus. The allowance of 100,000 lei in the case of death of infected medical personnel will also not be provided if the persons weren’t vaccinated, says a draft Government decision that was presented by the Ministry of Health for public consultations, IPN reports.

The bill proposed by the Ministry provides that the maintainer who is to collect the allowance of 100,000 lei should also be vaccinated.

According to the Ministry, the COVID-19 immunization campaign was kicked off in Moldova this March. The health workers represented the main target group for vaccination and, according to the National COVID-19 Immunization Plan, were the first category to which the vaccine was available from the very beginning.

“The vaccination against COVID-19 is an efficient measure for preventing and reducing the risk of infection. As universal access to vaccine has been ensured for all the health system employees, the health workers who avoid or refuse to be vaccinated will no longer be eligible for the allowance offered by the state in connection with the exposure to the risk of infection,” noted the Ministry of Health.

The public consultations on the draft decision close on September 19.

Earlier, the unvaccinated teachers were obliged to take a COVID-19 test at the own expense once in two weeks so as to prove that they are not infected with the novel coronavirus.
