The mandatory health insurance policy for persons who are not officially employed next year will cost 4,056 lei. In the case of salary earners, the mandatory health insurance contribution will be 8% of the pay, which will be paid equally by the employer and the employee. Compared with 2013, the contribution will be by 1% higher, IPN reports.
Now that the insurance premiums will rise, employers’ contributions will rise by 22 lei a month and 264 lei a year for every employee.
The unemployed persons who will purchase a health policy within three months of the coming into force of this law will pay half a price for it, as the previous years.
As many as 59,000 people who are to pay insurance premium individually will be included in the mandatory health insurance system in 2014, as against 51,000 in 2013.
The draft mandatory health insurance fund law for 2014 was passed by Parliament in the first reading on December 19 and is to be adopted in the final reading.
The draft law provides for revenues of 4.7 billion lei and a total expenditure of 4.8 billion lei. Compared with this year, the revenues and spending will rise by 14.7% and 11.7% respectively.
