Health policy will be more expensive in 2014

The mandatory health insurance policy for unemployed persons in 2014 will cost 4,056 lei. As the previous years, those who will buy the policy in the first three months of the year will pay only half of the price. The insurance premium calculated in the form of percentage contribution from the salary and other recompenses will rise by 1%, to 8%. 4% is the contribution of the employer, while the other 4% is the contribution of the employee, IPN reports.

The draft mandatory health insurance funds law for 2014 was approved by the Government in its November 27 meeting. It provides for revenues of 4.7 billion lei and an expenditure of 4.8 billion lei. The deficit is 100 million lei.

Compared with 2013, employers’ mandatory health insurance contributions will increase by 22 lei a month or 264 lei a year for every employee, based on the nominal average monthly salary projected in the budgetary sector and the real sector of the economy for the next year.

The allocations from the state budget for the categories of people who are insured by the state will total 2.23 billion lei, an increase of 4.3% on 2013.
