The Ministry of Health warns that the epidemic spread of measles in Romania can lead to the importation of the disease into Moldova, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry says that similar situations were witnessed in 2006-2007 and then in 2012, when measles was imported into Moldova from Romania. In 2013 and 2014, as a result of the importation of measles from Russia, about 30 cases of measles ocurred in the districts of Nisporeni, Calarasi and Soroca. In 2015-2016, cases of measles haven't been reported in Moldova.
According to the Ministry, the primary child vaccination rate decreased from 94.4% in 2008 to 88.3% in 2015. Under the mandatory vaccination calendar of Moldova, each child must be immunized against measles with three doses of ROR vaccine at the ages of 12-15 months, 6-7 years and 15-16 years.
The parents are urged to respect the vaccination calendar so as to protect the chidlren's health, while the teaching staff and medical workers of eductaion institutions are recommended not to admit children to school until these do not have all the required vaccines.
