Health Ministry urges population to refrain from celebrating Sunday of the Dead

The population is urged to refrain from taking part in religious ceremonies in cemeteries on the Sunday of the Dead. The Ministry of Health warns that the risk of infection with the novel coronavirus is imminent, IPN reports.

Under the last April 29 decision by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission, the state of public health emergency is instituted in the territorial-administrative units according to the alert level, deepening on the COVID-19 incidence rate. Red alert (state of emergency) is issued if the rate per 100,000 people is higher than 100 cases for the past 14 days.

In the settlements under red alert, it is banned holding religious ceremonies in cemeteries, except for services at funerals, baptizing or wedding ceremonies, by obeying the protection measures, on condition that at most ten persons are there inside the church.

In the case of yellow or orange alert, the services in cemeteries are held by obeying a number of measures to prevent infection with COVID-19, including controlling the flow of visitors, banning consumption of food and drinks and wearing face masks.

Also, to avoid crowdedness at tombs, at least three persons will be allowed to stay there by maintaining physical distancing of at least one meter and respecting hygiene rules.
