The flu virus had not been detected in Moldova yet, Deputy Minister of Health Mihai Magdei said Tuesday in a news conference centering on the results of the Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response Project, Info-Prim Neo reports. “According to the investigations of the Public Health Center carried out in September, November and December, there is no flu virus in Moldova,” said the deputy minister. In the same conference, Anatol Gabjila, project coordinator at the World Bank Office in Moldova, said that significant results have been achieved within the project during five years. Among them are the launch of the information system in the field and awareness-raising campaigns, creation of a national laboratory for diagnosing different types of flu at molecular level. A documentary titled “Caution, Flu!” was shown during the conference as part of the same project. The Avian Influenza Control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response Project was financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in 2006-2010.
