Health Ministry provides details about places available in hospitals

The number of beds available in the hospitals treating persons with COVID-19 is flexible and rises and decreases depending on the epidemiological situation. The non-uniform distribution of places is now a problem. There are institutions with a high number of available places and others with a low number of places, Svetlana Lupu, division head at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.

Svetlana Lupu said the number of places can be increased if necessary and can decrease if the epidemiological situation improves. “We have closed hospitals that can be anytime reopened as we already have prepared institutions and trained medical personnel, circuits and flows and functional infection control and quality ensuring systems,” she stated.

The functionary noted that a large number of patients who are hospitalized simultaneously is a challenge for the healthcare system. That’s why the system banks on the assistance of the population and the authorities. Everyone should be careful and obey the infection prevention measurers so that the hospitals are not overcrowded and they can focus on quality and results.

Prime Minister Ion Chicu in the morning of June 5 wrote on his Facebook page that the places available in hospitals are enough for five more days.
