The Ministry of Health, Labor and Special Protection was informed by diplomatic channels that the Russian Federation is ready to donate Moldova a lot of COVID-19 Sputnik-V vaccines in the nearest future. To facilitate the import of the lot, the Ministry keeps in touch with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, IPN reports.
In an interview for RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi said he does not know if it is now possible to supply the country with the necessary quantity of vaccines, even by buying these, as it is known that Russia faces difficulties in the process of producing Sputnik-V.
Earlier, ex-President Igor Dodon said the Russian Federation would donate 180,000 doses of vaccine to Moldova this week. He noted that Moldova is ready to purchase up to 1 million doses of Sputnik-V vaccine from Russia.
