Representatives of 25 media outlets and organizations addressed a common request to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, asking this to weekly hold news conferences online with the participation of journalists who will put questions live, IPN reports.
The request was made because the journalists have met with lack of transparency and access to information of public interest after the authorities introduced the state of emergency in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
During several weeks, the government officials communicated unilaterally and accepted selectively invitations to programs of TV channels. Many of the journalists cannot put questions to the authorities so that these shed light on major problems that concern everyone.
The representatives of the press said the giving of answers in conferences held online will contribute to correct and objective informing of the people about issues related to the crisis situation.
