No cases of the new coronavirus have been so far reported in Moldova, said Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu. Measures to prevent and control the infection were discussed in a broad meeting of the Commission for Public Health Emergencies, IPN reports.
According to the minister, the health facilities have the medicines needed to administer treatment against flu and acute respiratory infections to patients and some of the wards will be additionally readjusted, if need be.
The National Public Health Agency will monitor the situation and will cooperate with specialized labs in the region if suspected cases of the new coronavirus are detected.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu noted that all the competent authorities took precautionary measures applying to employees and to citizens who cross the border. Informative brochures with the WHO recommendations concerning travel will be distributed to people who come to or leave Moldova.
According to the latest data, over 2,800 people in China have been infected by the fast-spreading coronavirus, while more countries have reported their first confirmed cases. The death toll rose to 80.
