Agricultural landowners are exempt from paying the health insurance premium if they are war veterans, unemployed, or have been abroad for at least 183 days during the year. Students, pregnant women, and pensioners are also exempt, according to the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), IPN reports.
Landowners who do not fall into these categories are required to pay the health insurance premium within the first three months of the year. By March 31, the discounted amount is 1,264 lei, representing a 90% reduction from the full insurance cost of 12,636 lei, CNAM clarifies.
The health insurance premium can be paid through the government electronic payment service, MPay.
The status of individually insured person is granted by the National Health Insurance Company from the date of fixed-sum payment and remains valid until January 31, 2026.
After March 31, citizens who fail to obtain individual insurance within the legally established period will be required to pay the full premium of 12,636 lei, plus a penalty of 0.1% for each day of delay.
