Heads of local economic divisions to receive training on SMEs

The heads of district councils’ economic divisions will participate in trainings organized by the Ministry of Economy with technical and logistic support from the EU project “Technical Assistance for Sectoral Budget Support - Economic Stimulation in Rural Areas”, recently launched in Moldova. They will receive knowledge about the specifics of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and about the expectations of such enterprises, Info-Prim Neo reports. Training subjects include the establishing of contacts with entrepreneurs, promoting and developing SMEs, measures and key steps in counseling small entrepreneurs, etc. The trainers are international experts involved in the project and local trainers from the Ministry of Economy of the Organization for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Moldova (ODIMM). Four such trainings are schedules for 2012 and will involve 75 workers from local economic divisions. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, SMBs account for 97.6% of the companies in the country, for 57.3% of the jobs and 37.1% of the sales. The EU project “Technical Assistance for Sectoral Budget Support - Economic Stimulation in Rural Areas” was launched on March 15 and aims to improve national and sectoral policies, boosting the number of rural businesses, improving the public finances management systems. The project has a budget of €2.5 million and an implementation spell of 2 years. The main beneficiaries are the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the Ministry of Finance of Moldova.
