The head of the Cahul branch of the National Army’s Specialist Training Center was arrested on charges of passive corruption and traffic of influence, IPN learned from a press release of the National Anticorruption Center.
The man is suspected to have acted together with two co-workers and to have demanded 1500 lei for facilitating taking the type C driving exam, without the students having to attend practical and theoretical classes. He claimed to be able to influence the examiners and promised to make sure the training attendance certificate would be issued.
He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in jail and a fine of 6000 to 8000 conventional units. In addition, he can be banned from certain public offices or activities for 7 to 10 years.
