Head of state will be elected in autumn, Vlad Plahotniuc

Deputy Speaker and vice president of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc believes the President of Moldova will be elected in autumn. He made related statements in a TV program, where he said that he reached such a conclusion after discussing the possibility of identifying solutions to the political crisis with a number of Communist MPs, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Plahotniuc stated he counts on the relevant agreements existing in the Alliance for European Integration. “I prefer to keep my word and I think the AEI will respect the alliance constitution agreement, which says the post of head of state must be held by the leader of the Democratic Party,” he stressed. He made it clear that the Gagauz Governor Mihail Formuzal’s proposal to elect Vlad Filat as President may form part of a scenario that runs counter to the alliance constitution agreement. “These matters should be discussed in Chisinau, not in Comrat. I don’t want to think that this statement forms part of a scenario agreed earlier. But if Mister Formuzal said this as a supporter of the Liberal Democratic Party or as an ordinary person, it is up to him to take such a decision,” he said. Recently, Mihail Formuzal urged Prime Minister Vlad Filat to run for the presidency of Moldova.
