Head of State: United Europe became now a fortress of democracy

President Nicolae Timofti transmitted a message on the occasion of Europe Day where he says that the united Europe became now a fortress of democracy, transparency, diversity and identity of all the nations, which are the values of freedom that actually represent the essence of the Europeans Union, IPN reports.

“Staring with 1950, May 9 has been a reference day in the history of postwar Europe. Following the consequences of a painful event in history – World War II – the nations of Europe made effort to reinvigorate their industries and economies so as to increase the living standards and to avoid a third world war,” reads the message.

“For the Republic of Moldova, the project started by France and Germany five years after World War II became a priority of national importance. The advancement on the European path represents a major goal of the government coalition and surely meets the aspirations of our citizens. The implementation of the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement is a guarantee and a confirmation of the joint efforts made to integrate our people into the big family of the European peoples.”

The Head of State also says that the abolition of the visa requirements for Moldovans represents a joint victory following concrete steps taken to do European reforms. Now more than ever, it is important to be united in our ideals and in deeds, to persevere in advancing on the European path and affirm with dignity that Europe is out common home and this home should play host to honesty, benevolence and integrity, which means European vocation.
