Head of state takes part in jubilee meeting of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly

President Vladimir Voronin will participate in the 28th plenary meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the foundation of the organisation. The jubilee plenary meeting of the CIS IA will be held in Saint Petersburg on May 31. According to the presidential press service, the head of state was invited to take part in the meeting “in appreciation for Vladimir Voronin’s input to the development of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly during 1998-2000, as head of the Moldovan Parliamentary Delegation to the CIS IA.” Vladimir Voronin will deliver a speech during the festive plenary meeting. He will meet with leaders of the Moldovan Diaspora in Saint Petersburg and will attend the literary soiree of composer Eugen Doga. Speaker Marian Lupu will also take part in the plenary meeting of the CIS IA. The event will be attended by the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly President Rene van der Linden and other European and CIS officials. In the evening of May 31, the head of state will return to Chisinau.
