President Nicolae Timofti was handed over the credentials of four ambassadors representing Austria, Spain, Denmark, and Iran, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
In a meeting with the head of state, Austria’s Ambassador based in Bucharest Gerhard Reiweger said the Austrian businessmen are interested in developing investment projects in Moldova. He expressed his conviction that the visit that the President of Austria Heinz Fischer will make to Chisinau on November 16-17 will contribute to strengthening the Moldovan-Austrian relations.
The Danish Ambassador based in Bucharest Karsten Vagn Nielsen said that Denmark supports Moldova in its European integration efforts and will continue to provide development assistance to it. The Parliament of Denmark plans to ratify the Association Agreement between the EU and Moldova on December 18 this year.
In another meeting with the head of state, Iranian Ambassador based in Kyiv Mohammad Beheshti Monfared said the official Teheran intends to finance Persian language courses in Chisinau. Nicolae Timofti pleaded for intensifying the bilateral commercial relations for the benefit of both of the states.
Spanish Ambassador based in Bucharest Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller said the official Madrid is ready to provide the necessary expertise to Moldova for accelerating the process of meeting the European standards. Spain wants its presence in the social and cultural spheres of Moldova to be noticeable. Negotiations were started for opening a social football school of Real Madrid Foundation in Chisinau.
The new Ambassador of Spain to Moldova also had a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller noted that he will contribute to developing the relations between the two states and to promoting the Spanish culture in Moldova. Spain is ready to support education projects and projects to teach the Spanish language in Moldova and to share its experience in implementing the Association Agreement and in meeting the European standards.
The Premier said that the position of Spain as a state that supports the enlargement of the EU is important for Moldova’s future and for its prospects of joining the European family.
