Moldova has no other course than the European one and the signing of the Association Agreement gives us a great chance to achieve the ultimate goal – to become part of the European Union, President Nicolae Timofti said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

The head of state said the foreign vector may be modified in the possible early legislative elections. However, he does not believe that the voters can change their opinion in such a short period of time. “I hope that this course and the choice made by the Moldovan people will be continued. The greatest shortcoming in the development of our society after the declaration of independence was the fact that we weren’t consistent and moved from one direction to another. That’s why we are now behind other countries that had a similar start. I always give the Baltic countries as an example,” stated Nicolae Timofti.

He considers that the Republic of Moldova is close to signing the Association Agreement and this situation will make all those involved in governance to take a correct decision as regards Moldova’s future course and to overcome all the disagreements.

”This Association Agreement gives us a great chance to achieve the ultimate goal – to become part of the European Union. We covered a long path and it would be a pity to give up now as hard work was done at all the levels – the Government, Parliament and the parties that supported this course,” said the head of state.
