Head of state gives green light to lie detector testing

President Vladimir Voronin promulgated the law on the implementation of lie detector testing, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the presidential press service. The law defines the major terms and stipulates the aims, principles and areas where the lie detector will be used as well as the requirements towards such tests and the method of using the test results. The law is aimed at defending the public interests, ensuring the national security and fighting corruption and protectionism. Under the law, the lie detector test will be used on persons that want to work or already work for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, the Information and Security Service, the State Guard and Protection Service, the Customs Service, the Ministry of Defense, the Border Guard Service, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions; apply for a post to ensure the exploitation of very important production facilities, with special regime or dangerous; who receive or have access to information considered state secret; if such a procedure is stipulated in the work contract; if this results from investigative activities; or if the person wants to be subjected to such tests.
