Head of state decrees discharge from military service and shifting to reserve status

President of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, signed a decree regarding the discharge from the military service and shifting to a reserve status of the military men who have completed the military service, as well as the conscription of the citizens for a fixed or reduced period in May-June 2007. Under the presidential decree, employees of the National Army, Carabineer Troops Department and Border Guard Service and the conscript soldiers who have done the military service would be dismissed and moved to reserve in May-June 2007. The decree says that men, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who are 18 years old or will reach this age during the conscription period and do not have the right to postpone the drafting or to be exempted from military service for a fixed or reduced period will be conscripted for a fixed or reduced period into the National Army, Carbineer Troops Department and Border Guard Service in May-June 2007. According to the decree, the Government will fix the number of conscript soldiers, will ensure the conscription of the citizens into the army for a fixed or reduced period, will permanently and rigorously supervise how the conscription of the citizens into the army for a fixed or reduced period is carried out.
