The head of Pruncul Penitentiary was placed under house arrest for 20 days. The arrest warrant was issued by the Buiucani district court on December 12.  The prison’s head is investigated within a criminal case started over misuse of power by employees of the penitentiary, IPN reports.

The investigation was launched after a detainee convicted of very serious offenses was caught in his office in Chisinau, at a time when the convicts’ movement without escort is banned.

The prosecutors consider the man benefited from a preferential detention regime, ensured by persons from the jail’s administration. Thus, he was able to carry out entrepreneurial activities.
