The idea of naming a European prosecutor, which was proposed by the Liberal Party and was then promoted by opposition parties, is not a good solution for the Republic of Moldova, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said in a program on “Pro TV” Chisinau channel. He noted that Moldova must do reforms itself and must not wait for these to be brought from outside as such a practice does not product results.
Asked why the EU didn’t accept to name a European prosecutor in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola said this is not the solution. “You must do your own reforms. The experience of other countries shows that by naming one person or another from outside, the system does not change. You must change the system yourselves. You must have that internal will to do this and use all the external assistance and technical support,” stated the official.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova called on the Moldovans not to wait for someone from outside to change things. “There is a tendency to believe that someone from outside will change things in the country. This thing will not happen,” said Pirkka Tapiola. He added that the reforms cannot be brought to the country. They must be developed in the country.
In the same program, Pirkka Tapiola stated that Moldova faces many delays, but has yet accomplishments too and voiced hope that the government will continue these achievements.
