The collection of waste three times a week in Ciocana district has not radically changed the sanitation situation in the district, says the head of the district Galina Bostan. At Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, Bostan said that the rubbish must be collected daily, at least until all the accumulated waste is removed. The district head said that the administrators of the housing fund in Ciocana were summoned to a meeting and informed about the new working timetable of the Motorsanitation division. They were told they must make sure that when the vehicles of the division load the refuse, the specialised personnel is in place. The division’s head Tudor Maniv said that the 14 rubbish grounds will be supplied with new bins, while the waste rooms in blocks of flats will be supplied with containers with wheels. Tudor Maniv earlier promised that the refuse in the other districts of Chisinau will be also transported three times a week. Such a timetable will be implemented here until March 1. According to him, the specialised services in Centru, Buiucani and Rascani districts will start collecting rubbish three times a week within a month, while in Botanica district at the beginning of spring. The Motorsanitation division stepped up the waste disposal activities after the local authorities doubled the refuse transportation norms in the municipality. From December, the residents of Chisinau and of the suburbs pay more for domestic waste disposal. An apartment inhabitant now pays a waste disposal charge of 5.6 lei a month, in contrast to 2.8 lei earlier. A private house resident pays 11.2 lei a month, as opposed to 5.8 lei earlier. As a result, the division started to purchase waste collection vehicles and several thousands of rubbish bins.
