Head of Cahul district placed under house arrest

The Cahul Court ordered to place the head of Cahul district, who is accused of involvement in rigging of tender contests, under house arrest for a 30-day period, IPN reports.

On Wednesday, MPs, mayors, district councilors and locals representing the Party of Socialists mounted a protest next to the Cahul Court in connection with the arrest of the district’s head, Socialist Marcel Cenușă. According to them, the arrest is illegal, while the ruling party aims to subjugate the independent local public authorities using methods dating from the time of Plahotniuc and remove all those who think in a different way or are inconvenient for the current government.
