The head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, says she did not come to the post to help or hold one party or another accountable. "There is a misperception that I as a prosecutor am here to serve a certain political class," Dragalin told a press conference, quoted by IPN.
Asked whether there are open cases against members of the ruling party, Veronica Dragalin replied that "the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office does not announce to the whole world when it opens criminal cases. One can find out about them at the stage when the files are sent to court or when searches are carried out.
Asked whether she had supported the Action and Solidarity Party against the opposition in the referendum and presidential election campaigns, Dragalin asked to rephrase the question. She then described the statements as unfounded accusations.
She also maintained that she remains committed to her mission and the principles of independence and impartiality.
The statements were made during the press conference at which the activity report of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office for 2024 was presented.
