Harvesting of grain crops started with a delay of 10-14 days

The harvesting of first group grain crops and other crops this year started with a delay of 10-14 days. Wheat was harvested from about 59,000 ha, the crop totaling 268,414 tonnes, the average productivity level nationwide being 4.5 tonnes of wheat per hectare, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment.

There were collected 23,400 tonnes of wheat in Orhei district, 20,250 tonnes in Ungheni district, 19,238 tonnes in ATU Gagauzia, with an average productivity level of 5.5 tonnes per ha in Criuleni, 5 tonnes per ha in Drochia and Fălești, 4.9 tonnes per in Florești, up to 3.8 tonnes per in Orhei.

According to the preliminary reports, barley was harvested from an area of 37,054 ha, the crop totaling 148,887 tonnes, with the average productivity level nationwide being 4 tonnes of barley per ha.

During the first two weeks of the start of the harvest, the first group grain crops were collected from about 12% of the sowed areas - 318,000 ha of wheat (+4% on a year before) and 64,000 ha of barley (+18%).

The harvesting of mustard, onion, carrot, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, beet and squash is under way.
