Hard times for minibus drivers
Shortly after two minibuses were involved in road accidents in Chisinau, with 23 persons two of whom children being hurt, the Traffic Police launched thorough inspections.
Traffic Police Division spokeswoman Dana Andronic has told Info-Prim Neo that traffic police officers went to minibus termini and checked the units of transport and drivers' documents.
Other officers supervised the minibuses running on routes in Chisinau. The crowded minibuses and those that were speeding were stopped and the drivers were fined. Fines were also imposed for stopping in authorized places. The traffic police will continue monitoring the situation.
According to statistics, the minibuses that run on routes in Chisinau have been involved in 48 traffic accidents this year. Two persons have been killed and 97 injured in them.
