Hard fought victory for the Tricolors
Moldova’s national football team obtained its first victory in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. On Tuesday, October 16, the Tricolors obtained an away 0-2 victory at San Marino, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Moldovans had a hard time playing the amateur footballers of San Marino for the first hour of the game. However, they finally broke the deadlock on 72 minutes thanks to Sergiu Dadu. The Sheriff striker marked his return to the national team after a long absence by converting a penalty obtained by Vitalie Bordian. Six minutes later, Alexandru Epureanu netted a header and set the final score. Thus, the Tricolors ended a negative streak of 7 winless matches and 8 games without scoring.
After this success, the players coached by Ion Caras have 4 points and at least until spring will hold on to the 4th place in Group H, above Ukraine and San Marino.
After the unexpected draw with Moldova, the Ukrainians lost points again. Montenegro bested them 1-0. As a result of unfavorable weather conditions, the game between England and Poland was postponed for October 17.
The Tricolors’ next match in the qualification campaign is scheduled for 22 March 2013, when they host Montenegro.
