The head of Hancesti town, Alexandru Botnari, si urging the mayors across Moldova to vote for the Democratic Party (PDM) in the July 29 polls. “I'm calling on the mayors to choose the party which is able to solve the problems existing in Moldova – the Democratic Party – so that we eventually avoid a repeat of the April 7 events”, declared Botnari at a news conference on Monday. According to the mayor, the PDM is the only political party able to change the future of the Republic of Moldova, thanks to the policy proposed by the new leader of the party, ex-speaker Marian Lupu. “I state with all responsibility that I'm not interested in the position that I might obtain in this party. My interest is an efficient team that could bring about changes in the country”, he declared. “In Hancesti I see a young team of PDM members who could change the socioeconomic situation in Moldova. I'm convinced that we need decentralization of the local authorities, which would enable the mayors to solve the problems of their communities by themselves”, he added.
