Of the 45 political parties registered with the Ministry of Justice of Moldova, 23 presented financial reports for 2016. A part of the reports were published on the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC), IPN reports.

According to the reports available on the CEC’s website, the Democratic Party of Moldova last year had the largest budget, of over 53.8 million lei. More than 7.4 million of this represented the money allocated from the state budget.

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova received the largest financing from the state budget – over 8.5 million. Its total budget exceeded 9.2 million lei.

The Party of Communists in 2016 had a budget of 6.8 million lei, 5.7 million lei of which was allocated from the state budget.

The parties whose revenues and spending last year were equal to zero include the Party of Regions of Moldova, the Political Party “European Movement” and the Russian-Slavic Political Party of Moldova.

The parties that didn’t submit financial reports or presented incomplete data in the report will be fined 9,000 to 15,000 lei.
