Half of the new runaway of the Chisinau International Airport has been built. The works to cement 1,250 meters of the new runway that will be 2,450 meters long and the maneuvering track were inspected on July 7, IPN reports.
According to the airport manager Avia Invest, works are carried out at night as well. More than 200 persons and 120 machines and pieces of equipment daily work on the building site. In parallel with cementing works, works are performed to extend the airport’s platform on an area of 45,000 square meters. As a result, 27 parking places will be available for aircraft.
The second runaway is built in a move not to disrupt air traffic while the main runaway is under reconstruction.
