“Hailatara” Project to present unexplored tourist attractions of Moldova

The Project “Hailatara” is launching the campaign “#VisitMoldova” that is aimed at promoting tourism in Moldova, which was named the least explored tourist destination in Europe by Lonely Planet. During 10 consecutive weeks, the campaign will present the Top 10 Unexplored Authentic Travel Destinations in Moldova on the website www.hailatara.md/visitmoldova, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the project, the campaign is a continuation of the tourist video “Visit Moldova” that was launched by the National Tourism Agency on August 4. It aims to highlight the most beautiful unknown tourist attractions of the country.

“The truth is that 90% of the 13,000 tourists visiting us annually do not go out of Chisinau. When we are asked by foreigners what they can see in Moldova, we say something about Orheiului Vechi and the wineries located not far. By the campaign “#VisitMoldova”, we want to show first of all to the Moldovans and then to the whole world that the villages of Moldova are full of picturesque rural landscapes and authentic tourist attractions that stand ready to be discovered,” said Alexei Gutaga, director of “Hailatara” Project.

The organizers invite all the Moldovans to join the campaign and to send pictures of the most beautiful places of Moldova, which can top the rankings. The suggestions can be sent to the email address hailatara@hailatara.md, through the facebook (www.facebook.com/hailatara) or on the instagram using the hashtags #VisitMoldova #Hailatara.

“We promise 10 weeks of suspense and guarantee that you will be surprised by the existence of such attractions in Moldova. Furthermore, the most inspired suggestions from the participants in the campaign will be awarded,” said Alexei Gutaga.

“Hailatara” is the first authentic rural tourism platform in Moldova that enables the tourists to board at the houses of villagers. The project now includes a network of over 200 houses in about 50 settlements of Moldova. Its goal is to offer authentic experience of interaction with the local community and to contribute to developing the Moldovan villages.

The project is implemented with the assistance of the Support to Confidence Building Measures Program that is financed by the European Union and co-financed and implemented by UNDP.
